Manager, Sales Planning and Analysis

Job Summary:

Responsible for the administration of several regional sales directors and the tracking of sales planning documents, sales initiatives, new product launches, seasonal programs and distribution changes. Analyzes and interprets distributor sales reporting. Produces reports and analysis on both a regular and ad-hoc basis and ensures the timely and accurate flow of data to all internal and external partners.

Significant interaction with CEO, VP Sales, Regional Sales Directors, Marketing, Operations, and Finance as necessary to budget, track, and evaluate trade spending, distribution and sales volume. Acts as the HQ liaison between Sales and all other PANOS functional areas and supports VP Sales and Regional Managers in the field as requested. This position reports into the VP of Sales, located in Rochelle Park.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Annual budgeting and planning processes including both initial plan development and ongoing updates and revisions
  • Develops and manages tracking formats and distributes reports across functions (Sales Planner, Presentation Calendar, Seasonal Trackers, Customer Specific Trackers)
  • Analyzes trade spending by brand, promotion and customer in order to determine optimal usage and mix and recommends appropriate strategies or corrective action.
  • Tracks new items initiatives including approval status, cost and timing and projects impact for Finance, Operations and Marketing. Follows new item approvals through to actual store sets and verifies end results.
  • Provides sales forecast input to Finance and Operations.
  • Tracks other key regional and broker initiatives at the direction of CEO/VP Sales.
  • Coordinates presentations for Quarterly Sales/Marketing meetings and for Board Meetings.
  • Manages online retail business.
  • Coordinates routine communications between Marketing, Operations and external trade partners including new items, pricing, product information, etc.
  • Distributes sales and trade communications, sales materials, samples, etc. in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assists VP Sales and Regional Sales Directors in the field as requested. This could include trade shows, broker meetings, product demos or customer calls.
  • Assists Regional Sales Directors in managing commitment system inputs and reporting.
  • Communicates to the broker network as directed by VP Sales.
  • Assists Regional Sales Directors in coordinating activity and communications across decentralized national accounts.
  • Provides information and analysis for brokers or for customers as approved by CEO/VP Sales.
  • Must maintain good attendance and safe work practices.
  • Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.
  • Other duties or special projects as requested.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of sales or sales-related analytical experience in a consumer products environment.
  • Knowledge of traditional grocery supermarket and specialty natural retailers, specialty and mainline distributors and e-commerce accounts (i.e. Amazon, InstaCart, Jet, VitaCost, Thrive).
  • Strong MS Office skills, including creation and manipulation of pivot tables macros and spreadsheets is required. Comfort with interacting and developing experience with proprietary information systems is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. Must have employment documentation, including valid driver’s license and proof of insurance as defined by company policies.
  • Must possess strong cognitive, problem solving, and analytical skills complemented by excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Need strong organizational skills and the adaptability to succeed in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment with multifaceted and changing responsibilities.
  • Tactful, flexible, and able to develop and maintain productive working relationships with individuals of highly diverse personality.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with a geographically dispersed team.
